A family farm turned estate winery.
To Our story begins in 1936 when Arthur Smith (1893-1975) purchased the parcel of land which would later become Serenity Vineyards. At this time it was known as the Art Smith Farm, sitting on the west shore of Seneca Lake. In 1976, Don Smith (1924-1981) retired from the construction industry and purchased the farm, where he was raised, from his parents (Arthur and Agnes Smith). The next year, he worked hard to establish the first fields in the vineyard.
In 1981, the property was passed onto Don Smith's family, where it remains today. Over the years, we have carefully nurtured the vines, planted new popular varietals, and have supplied many wineries along the east coast with fine grapes & wine. Much of this work was done by Jeffrey Arthur Smith (1949-2014).
In 2006, we produced our first vintage as Serenity Vineyards, selling our 100% estate grown wine. Our tasting room opened shortly after in 2011. To this day, we sit on over 100 acres of land, only 40 of which are planted (including some of the oldest vinifera in the Finger Lakes).
We are currently serving: Seyval Blanc, Dry & Semi Dry Riesling, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and our Cabernet Franc/Merlot blend, Mirth. If the growing season permits, we also offer rosé and a sweet line of wines.
We look forward to hosting you in our tasting room!
